Pursuing law to live for a bigger purpose, Khurshid wanted to make a difference in people’s lives. For over a thousand diverse immigration cases he handled throughout the years, he now sits as one of the youngest and in-demand solicitors at Deo Volente. He recently qualified as a solicitor in October 2020
A Major Throwback
Khurshid Ali was born in Luton. An integral part of his childhood was spent having a lot of fun as they lived opposite a park where summer and winter holidays were mostly enjoyed playing football. His love for football molded his skills of teamwork, perseverance, and decision making- applied in all aspects of his life. Football had him learn to cope with the seasons of life, anticipate opportunities, camaraderie, and working with peers to solve problems. His childhood dream was to work at an office simply but life indeed had massive plans in store for him. With all the grit and years of hard work, Khurshid now has his own office in one of the UK’s most prominent firms, Deo Volente Solicitors.
He went to South Luton High School and studied law at the University of Westminster before completing his LPC at the BPP Law School in Holborn
The DV Life
Before diving into the legal industry, Khurshid worked as a hospital porter for eight years. The virtues he learned mainly of patience, tolerance, and sympathetic nature developed his interpersonal skills to listen, empathise, and work quickly but smoothly in emergencies.
He previously acted as a legal advisor to the Home Office before joining DV Solicitors in May 2018 through a legal recruitment agency. It brings back memories of his youth as the Luton office is across his old high school, where his journey began.
Khurshid is highly experienced in handling complex Immigration matters, focusing on Judicial Review work, Immigration appeals, Nationality law, and Asylum. He has also represented and assisted clients in several Immigration applications. It includes (but is not limited to) Spouse visas, extensions, settlement, discretionary leave outside the rules, EU applications that have retained rights of residence applications, visitor applications, and applications under the points-based system that include students family members.
In his free time outside work, he plays football with friends, eats out, and helps his daughter read and draw. He expressed how his children majorly inspired him to become better every day.
At Deo Volente Solicitors, he aims to be a partner and managing his own team from the Luton Office. He would like to be more involved in business immigration law– currently attending the further course to expand his knowledge.
